About Corbett Edge O’Meara

Corbett Edge O’Meara was born in 1966 and was raised on the east side of Detroit. Corbett is a product of Detroit Public Schools, attended Michigan State University and Siena Heights University (B.A. in English, 1989) and earned a doctorate in jurisprudence from Wayne State University Law School in 1995.

Mr. O’Meara is the sixth generation in a row in his family admitted to the practice of law. Corbett’s father was appointed to be a United States District Court Judge by President Clinton in 1994 and sits on the bench of the federal court for the Eastern District of Michigan as a senior judge today.

Corbett Edge O’Meara has been admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan, The Supreme Court of the State of Michigan and The United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Mr. O’Meara has been admitted to practice pro hac vice in several other jurisdictions across the country.

Mr. O’Meara limits his practice to the representation of individuals and entities accused or convicted of criminal wrongdoing. He has represented thousands of criminal defendants in state and federal courts. Mr. O’Meara is a member of the Criminal Justice Act panel for the Eastern District of Michigan, and has been a delegate to the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference.

Corbett has been a Detroit attorney specializing in the defense of the powerless against the powerful for the past twelve years.  Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. O’Meara worked in every capacity that the legal profession offers.  He started in the copy room and has made it to the court room.  It is now time for him to be on the other side of the bench.

Corbett Edge O’Meara has dedicated his adult life to increasing justice and decreasing the injustice for the people of Wayne County and the State of Michigan. Fairness, honesty, integrity, and intelligence are needed to accomplish this task. The path he has taken through life will bring to the bench a perspective and dedication to justice that cannot be replicated or matched.

Corbett Edge O’Meara is the very involved father of three great children, Jessica Grace Prather O’Meara, his adopted daughter, and his sons Corbett John O’Meara and Patrick Tighe O’Meara.
